Tanzania Health Promotion Support (THPS) is a national NGO established in 2011 under the Non-Governmental Organizations Act No. 24 of 2002. We collaborate with the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania to ensure that high-quality health and social welfare services are accessible to all Tanzanians.
We achieve this by strengthening health and community systems, building the capacity of institutions and the health workforce, promoting evidence-based and people-centred interventions and supporting sustainable service delivery at national, regional, council, facility and community levels.
THPS also conducts public health surveys, operational research and programme evaluations to generate evidence that informs policy, improves programmes and supports data-driven decision-making for better health outcomes.
THPS has extensive experience implementing public health programs across all regions of Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar.
Working through existing government systems and community structures, we strengthen institutional capacity, support local ownership and build resilient systems that sustain quality service delivery beyond the lifespan of individual projects. This approach enables interventions to be effectively integrated into national and local systems, promotes long-term sustainability and creates lasting improvements in the health and well-being of communities.
THPS is currently implementing projects in comprehensive HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care, Support and Treatment among general populations in Pwani and Kigoma regions; key and vulnerable populations across 25 district councils at 13 mainland Tanzania regions and Health laboratory services strengthening in all mainland regions and Zanzibar.
Moreover, THPS implements TB and Family Planning Integrated Facility solution activity aimed to improve access to and use of quality Tuberculosis (TB) and family planning (FP) services for better health outcomes of Tanzanian citizens in Katavi, Kigoma, Rukwa and Songwe regions. Through collaboration with MoHCDGEC and Ministry of Home Affairs, THPS implements Police and Prisons activity aimed to strengthen systems, improve ownership of HIV and TB services, and ensure delivery of integrated, person-centered health services to police and prison staff, their families, prisoners, and surrounding communities.
