Tanzania Health Promotion Support (THPS) currently works in Pwani, Kigoma, Mtwara regions and Zanzibar. Additionally THPS supports the Ministries of Health headquarters in mainland and Zanzibar through technical assistance towards improving service delivery through guidelines, policy and training materials development, health information management systems (HIMS) and improvement of laboratory equipment maintenance

Pwani Region: Is located in the eastern part of Tanzania along the coast of Indian Ocean witha population of 1,098,668 and HIV prevalence of 5.9% (National census/THMIS 2012). Pwani has seven district councils and 225 health facilities; THPS support 221of these to provide Prevention of mother to child transmission (PMTCT) services, out of these 47 provide comprehensive HIV care and antiretroviral therapy.

Mtwara Region: Is located in the southern part of Tanzania along the coast of Indian Ocean with a population of 1,270,854 and HIV prevalence of 4.1% (National census/THMIS 2012). It is divided into seven district councils and has 185 health facilities. In Mtwara THPS is supporting 81 of the health facilities to providing HIV care and antiretroviral therapy services.

Kigoma region: Kigoma region lies in the north-western corner of Tanzania, on the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika. It has a population of 2,127,930 people and HIV prevalence of 3.4% (National census/ THMIS 2012). Kigoma has seven district councils and 188 health facilities; THPS supports 198 of the health facilities in providing HIV services out of these 46 facilities provide comprehensive HIV care and antiretroviral therapy services.

Zanzibar: Zanzibar islands are located in the Indian Ocean east to mainland Tanzania. It has a population of 1,303,569 people and HIV prevalence of 0.75% (National census/THMIS 2012). Zanzibar islands are divided in ten district councils and have a total of 248 health facilities; 12 and 156 of them providing HIV care and antiretroviral therapy and PMCT services respectively. THPS support to the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar is through technical assistance to the ministry of health, Commission for National Coordination & Drug Control and Zanzibar AIDS commission (ZAC).

Kagera: Kagera is located in the north-western part of Tanzania and has a population of 2,458,023 people (HIV prevalence of 4.8% - THMIS 2012).

Mbeya: Mbeya is located in the South-west part, has population of 2,707,410(HIV prevalenceof 9.0%).
