Mr. Damian Laki

Mr. Damian Laki is the Strategic Information (SI) Associate Director for AFYA HATUA Project. He serves as SI technical lead under the THPS SI Director providing overall support on designing and developing PMP, reviewing national level data collection tools working in collaboration with national systems such as NASHCoP, TACAIDS, RCH and TB and all information to inform strategic decision-making and program implementation. He oversees data collection, through provision of technical support on proper documentation, data verifications and data quality assessment.

He has extensive experience with use of both government and donor reporting systems such as DHIS2, TRAINSMART, CTC2/CTC3, PROMIS, CQI and DATIM. He Provide strategic direction and oversight to the information systems team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Oversee the development, maintenance, and implementation of internal information systems, including databases, data warehouses, and analytics platforms. Also collaborates with senior leadership to develop and implement information strategies that support the organization’s mission. Guide the team to establish and maintain data quality, integrity, and security in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. Furthermore, works with regional teams to develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to communicate key findings and trends to the donor and government of Tanzania through constant data analysis to identify insights that inform program decisions.  Ensure seamless integration of new technologies with existing systems. Provide training and technical assistance to staff on data analysis, visualization, and interpretation. Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making within the organization. Develop and manage budgets for information systems, data analysis, and research initiatives. Ensure effective allocation of resources to meet organizational priorities.

Mr. Damian has over 12 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation of health interventions. He conducts reviews of national level data collections tools, SOPs, Protocols, Guidelines and participate in training on various tools, systems rollout and data quality assessment. He also served as Senior SI Advisor at ICAP Tanzania leading effective systems design, review, and implementation of the project’s M&E plan. supervising the implementation of monitoring systems specifically on VMMC, through strengthened DHIS2. He also worked as M&E Manager for Pathfinder International providing oversight in data collections tools and systems for reporting Family Planning and HIV interventions. Mr. Laki holds Masters of Public Health from Muhimbili University College of Health and Allied Sciences, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
