Dr. John Roman

Dr. John Roman Kimario (MBBS) is the Regional Program Manager supporting Pwani region under CDC/PEPFAR Afya Hatua project. He is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health – Implementation Science at Muhimbili University of Health Allied Sciences (MUHAS). He holds Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree (MB, ChB) from Makerere University. He has over eight years of professional experience in public health at various levels, from field officer to managerial positions, gained while working with various organizations, both international and local NGOs, in Tanzania. This include Family Health International 360 (FHI360) – Regional Technical Manager USAID Boresha Afya Southern zone based in Iringa for three years; Management and Development for Health (MDH) – PMTCT/EID and Pediatric HIV Advisor under USAID Boresha Afya Southern Zone based in Mafinga – Iringa for two years; Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS foundation (EGPAF) – Program Officer clinical services based in Tabora for two years.

He began his medical career at Sekou Touré Regional Referral Hospital as Medical Officer in the Obstetrics and Gynecology department for almost two years and at Amana Regional Referral Hospital, where he did his medical internship for one year.

He is highly proficient in evaluating, monitoring, and performing quantitative and qualitative analysis with excellent computer skills. He is a very innovative, results-oriented, and hard-working person.
