Dr. Otmar Massawa is the Regional Program Manager for Tanga, under the Afya Hatua Project in Tanga. In this role, he oversees program activities in the region, building and maintaining the program’s relationship with the regional health secretariat and district administration to ensure program objectives are achieved. With over 14 years of work experience in the public sector and donor-funded programs, he previously worked as Clinical Program Officer, Clinical Advisor, and Senior Clinical Advisor at ICAP in Kagera Region. He also had a stint with HJF Medical Research International as Regional Clinical Coordinator for the Katavi region before being promoted to the Regional Program Manager position for the Rukwa and Katavi regions. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Health and a Medical Doctor Degree from Muhimbili University College of Health and Allied Sciences.
