Managing Sub Grantees within Public and private Not for Profit Organizations

THPS works closely with sub grantees (implementing partners) with the objective of ensuring its sub grant management system’s partners have improved capacity and skills to implement projects and comply with THPS and USG and other donors’ rules and regulations; as well as graduate and receive direct funding as prime recipients.

To date, THPS works with 32 sub grantees in Tanzania mainland including 17 Council Health Management Teams (CHMTs), 2 Regional Health Management Teams (RHMTs), 2 Regional Referral Hospitals, 7 NGOs and 4 Faith Based Organizations (FBOs). The sub grantees are implemented in key THPS Projects such as CDC – Afya Kwanza Care and Treatment, CDC- National Health Laboratory Strengthening Systems (NHLS) and USAID TB and FP Activity.

Our work with sub-grantees involves participatory planning and budgeting process that creates sense of ownership, ensures capacity building through annual formal trainings and frequent on job trainings and mentoring to ensure compliance to THPS, USG and other donors’ rules and regulations; technical supportive supervisions by THPS subs team, project and expenditure monitoring through timely and accurate finance and technical reports.

THPS supports other project operational activities such as staff’s salaries to:

  • 632 project staffs including 102 data officers
  • 29 Clinicians
  • 35 nurses
  • 6 pharmacists
  • 56 tester counselors
  • 271 peer educators
  • 41 clinical trackers
  • 24 Laboratory personnel
  • 2 District Health Information System and
  • 66 Lay counselors.

THPS works with District Executive Director (DEDs) and Prime Minister’s Office – Public Service and Good Governance to ensure that qualified staffs are absorbed in the government employments whenever opportunity occurs.

Other provided support includes Financial support for supportive supervision, mentorship activities, and operational costs including overtime allowances to project related government staffs at facilities.
