Strengthening forensic capacity, access to justice, and survivor-centred services for survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Violence Against Children (VAC) in Kahama Municipal Council.

Overview

Paza Sauti+ is funded by Sanlam Allianz Tanzania Limited and implemented by Tanzania Health Promotion Support (THPS) in partnership with Kahama Municipal Council. The project strengthens prevention and response to GBV and VAC by improving survivor-centred care, forensic services, referral systems, and multisectoral coordination, ensuring survivors receive timely support and access to justice.

What We Do

Paza Sauti+ brings together communities, health facilities, social welfare services, police, forensic experts, schools, and local government to improve prevention, reporting, and survivor support. The project focuses on:

• Raising community awareness to prevent GBV and VAC and promote early reporting.
• Strengthening the capacity of frontline service providers to deliver quality survivor-centred and forensic services.
• Improving referral pathways and coordination across health, social welfare, police, and justice sectors.
• Promoting timely forensic evidence collection to support investigations and access to justice.

Partnerships

The project is implemented in collaboration with the Government Chemist Laboratory Authority (GCLA), Kahama Municipal Council, the Council Health Management Team, Municipal Social Welfare Office, Tanzania Police Force Gender and Children’s Desk, health facilities, community leaders, schools, and local media partners.

Building Sustainable Systems

Paza Sauti+ is strengthening long-term systems for GBV and VAC prevention and response by improving referral networks, reinforcing evidence-based case management, strengthening forensic capacity, and fostering collaboration across government and community structures. These efforts contribute to safer communities, better survivor outcomes, and a more effective and accountable response to violence.
