The Tanzania FAST-Health Project (Focused Accelerated Sustainable Transformation for Health) is a three-year initiative implemented by Tanzania Health Promotion Support (THPS) in collaboration with the Government of Tanzania, National Council for People Living with HIV/AIDS (NACOPHA) and Network of Young People Living with HIV and AIDS in Tanzania (NYP+), with funding from ViiV Healthcare Positive Action. The project runs from June 2026 to June 2029 in Muheza District Council, Tanga Region, and Kahama Municipal Council, Shinyanga Region.
The project addresses gaps in HIV prevention, testing, treatment and care for children, adolescents, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and their caregivers through community-based and family-centred approaches.
Key Project Objectives
Tanzania FAST-Health focuses on four key areas:
- Improve maternal health and access to appropriate HIV services for pregnant and breastfeeding women;
- Strengthen pediatric and adolescent HIV case finding, including early identification of children and adolescents living with HIV;
- Improve treatment continuity, timely linkage to care and support for clients to achieve and maintain viral suppression; and
- Strengthen health systems through improved healthcare worker skills, better use of data, integrated service delivery and stronger community engagement.
By working through existing Government health systems and community structures, FAST-Health promotes local ownership and sustainable HIV service delivery, helping ensure that improvements can be maintained beyond the project period.
